REGA

The Folk Theatre Festival is a cultural manifestation initiated in 2007 by the authorities of the Varaždin County. The main goal of the Festival is to reestablish the folk theatre tradition in the Varaždin county.

The main idea is very simple: to organize as many theatre performances in as many locations in one day and in such a way reestablish the folk theatre tradition as the most direct form of communication of the amateur acters and the audience which almost dissapeared because of the new technologies.

The first Festival was held in 2007 in Bednja and from there its been spreading thorughout the county under the motto ˝Ide REGA preko brega˝. REGA is held in November every year and  every year it attracts more and more people. REGA gathers the amateur drama groups from all over Croatia. Every year more and more groups from the Varaždin county apply for the Festival which means that the main goal of the Festival has been achieved.
